“Corduroy—a good idea for pants and shoes”
“The partnership of MULO and Hamilton + Hare is one dreamt up in loungewear heaven. For its latest take on house-friendly footwear, the former’s natural fibres are combined with the latter’s slimline silhouette in a beaut sage green colourway. Our favourite thing about them? The Terry towelling cushioned footbed, so you can slip out of the bath and into your slips without any contact with the cold, tiled floor.”
“Founded and created by a creative clan of espadrille experts, Mulo focuses on lightweight construction and chic colourways, citing the pace and vibrancy of city life as a key design influence. This linen pair take on a muted beige hue, bringing both style and ease to your everyday life.”
“Although these are technically house shoes, no one will stop you from wearing them outside. And it’s likely few will notice they were meant for the comfort of your own home. They have a sole that stands up to some sneakers, a soft corduroy upper and a cushioned insole.”
“The joy of gift-giving is in getting someone something they wouldn’t usually buy themselves like these shearling-lined suede slippers. The handcrafted slippers are made of suede and come in black and brown with gripped soles for a comfy fit and easy walking. The best part? You can get them as soon as the next day or even faster if you’re in NYC.”
“For ease of use and ultimate comfort, slip-ons are hard to beat.”
“MULO makes some of the best espadrilles you’ll find.”
“The kind of home improvements we can get behind.”
“How MULO footwear strikes just the right chord for the ‘new normal’ world order.”
“Respectfully reinventing classic styles and silhouettes – from loafers to the desert boot – for men who want to blend business with leisure and exchange the awkwardness of being slavishly on-trend for a stealthier sense of cool.”
“Starting with a stylish spin on an Argentinian espadrille, MULO now offers a wide range of wellmade, comfortable footwear.”
“Giving a more refined choice – something between a sneaker and a slipper. Add to the espadrilles and slippers some new leather models, suede boots and black velvet slip-ons, then factor in a good colour range, and you have a great British-designed product.”
“In 2012, Tobias and Ingrid Cox launched their footwear brand, Mulo, by correctly surmising that transplanting the DNA of a polished Oxford lace-up into an espadrille would produce an ultra-smart yet comfortable shoe. They proved to be a cult success. Now, Mulo shoes are available in more than 100 countries. Here’s what Tobias has learned.”
“They’re a style-conscious person’s summer staple – and British makers are leading the charge…”
“As we head out of lockdown, it’s time to put your best foot forward.”
” ‘Slip-on’ has somewhat sedately connotations, but a new generation of shoes that fit the bill are entirely contemporary and modern; slip-on trainers in suedes and leathers that are rather Left Bank in their minimalist ease.”
” These robust yet sophisticated spring footwear styles can navigate city and rural terrain with ease”
“Craving joy and comfort right now? It’s time to tear up the dress code rule book and wear pyjamas 24/7.”
“No casual wardrobe is complete without a pair of trainers or several.”
“The white loafer is a minimalist dream, with elasticated side panels and a cushioned interior. It feels like a slipper, but has the modern-smart style becoming ever more popular during the weekend. Its considered and clean design is backed up by its high-quality Italian suede upper and lining, which is apt, as wearing a pair makes us feel like we’re on holiday on the Italian coast.”
“Stop wearing bad house shoes”
“A new pair of slippers for Christmas won’t exactly win points for originality, but you’ll certainly earn Brownie and style points with a pair of sleek Mulo slip-ons. Designed in London and handmade and stitched in Portugal, each pair is made using the DNA of a traditional Oxford shoe ‘last’, so you know they’ll be super comfy (especially this sheepskin lined pair) and durable.”
“February 14 is a pretty solid excuse to break that three-season sweatsuit streak (try slipping into something a little less comfortable), shell out for the good champagne, and go big — and stay home. All romance is worth celebrating, and your Zoom boo, kinda-significant other, or part-time lover/full-time friend likes nice things, too.”
“Help him follow the shoes-off-in-the-house rule with MULO slippers.”
“Seeing as we are spending more time than ever at home, we might as well ensure we spend it in luxury. These hand-stitched, moleskin leather slippers from Mulo will make all the neighbours green with envy.”
“Our 2020 wardrobes have largely consisted of loungewear. And no matter how well our intentions started, we have all shifted to more comfortable (read: frumpy) staples. British menswear label Hamilton and Hare is on a mission to banish ugly slippers this Christmas with a stylish collaboration with footwear brand Mulo. Combining a contemporary backless shape with H&H’s sustainable, natural fabrics, this elegant pair will see you through winter and beyond. “
“One of the safest bets you can make this Christmas, this Mulo x Hamilton collab has arrived just in time. Combining the slimline silhouette of Mulo with Hamilton and Hare’s authority on sustainable fabrication, these slippers have all the refinement of an Oxford dress shoe. They’re engineered for optimal comfort with a backless design and terry towelling footbeds, then given some luxury appeal with their Italian suede trims.”
“Times of uncertainty call for pieces that promise to enhance everyday rituals. Slide into grown-up slippers by MULO when spending time indoors – a simple way to master the art of luxe lounging.”
“Everything at MULO is designed in London and crafted in Portugal. Alongside collaborations, with sleepwear and loungewear specialist Hamilton & Hare is their new corduroy slippers. Lined with ultra-sumptuous but superbly breathable natural shearling these handmade slippers are the first time MULO has used corduroy in their production
“Hamilton and Hare is one of the leading names in premium loungewear and Mulo is a master of comfort-led men’s shoes. Together, they make a powerful team and these luxurious backless slippers are the proof. Granted, they are not exactly modestly priced but that’s because every slipper is individually handmade using sustainably sourced fabrics, and features indulgent details like Italian suede leather trims and a rubber outsole robust enough to tackle terrain outside of the house, even if it’s just to take the bins out. With a terry-towelling cushioned footbed, this is one pair of slippers you won’t want to take off.”
“Men’s brushed suede and leather sneakers.”
“Never has comfort been more important, but I am encouraging you to up your slipper game by investing in a smart new pair. You’ll certainly be getting plenty of wear out of these – and perhaps your wellies. What a simple way to lift a mood.”
“The Mulo x Hamilton and Hare Slipper combines Mulo’s classic slimline silhouette, based on the Classic Oxford dress shoe, and Hamilton and Hare’s signature, sustainably sourced fabrics.
Featuring a backless design for slip on ease and cushioned footbeds it is breathable, absorbent and will help your feet from overheating.
Italian suede leather trims and a gripped rubber sole also makes them versatile enough to wear outside. The slippers are entirely handmade and the perfect luxury gift for the festive season ahead.”
“Because who can have too many blue suede sneakers? These Mulo shoes are crafted from a navy waxed suede. But what stands these sneakers apart is the sole. Not only are Mulo’s sneakers exceptionally comfortable — with a cushioned footbed and arch support — but that simple white band is also stylishly unassuming, and will slot seamlessly into the bottom of almost any.”
“You’ll be walking on air in a pair of these loafers.”
“When trainers are too heavy and loafers too smart, espadrilles are the shoe to turn to. Canvas options are light and airy, suede designs a little more polished – pair with tanned ankles and rolled-up hems for summer cool.”
“The espadrille moves to the city with this minimalist sneaker-inspired take, built with a taupe-grey suede upper and a jute midsole that recalls its beachy origins.”
“Now more than ever, we’re seeking out simple, minimalist basics that work to transcend the boundaries of business and pleasure. And, thanks to the style connoisseurs over at MULO, we’ll be putting our best foot forward, whether at home or away.”
“Even loafing around looks stylish in a sophisticated pair of slippers. Made from soft Italian suede and lined with shearling, they’ll keep feet cosy come snow or British summer. Pair with a good book and your favourite footstool.”
“Any truly stylish gent wants to still want to look their best during downtime – and with an emphasis on comfort still rocketing its way up sophisticated gents’ priority list, this kind of footwear is as much a wardrobe staple as plain white shirts were in decades past.”
“Dial up the colour with MULO’s suede espadrilles. A cushioned footbed and arch support boosts your walking comfort.”
“Dial up the colour with MULO’s suede espadrilles. A cushioned footbed and arch support boosts your walking comfort.”
“Being at home is all well and good when you get to also leave home every once in a while. But many of us are, for the first time in our lives, not allowed to venture into the outside world for more than a quick stop at the supermarket. As a result, it would be inhuman if we weren’t all craving a few home comforts to make working from home and living at home a little more bearable”.
“Comfy Slippers by MULO.”
“A smarter take on house shoes”.
“British espadrille-make MULO has teamed up with loungewear-master Hamilton & Hare on a summer suede remix of its backless mules. With a cushioned footbed and shearling-lined toe box, these slip-ons will keep your feet warm and supported from sun-up to sun-down”.
“One of the small pleasures might be constructing an alternative uniform for working from home in these strange weeks.”
“A more modern take comes from London-based MULO, offered in both suede and sustainably-sourced linen. The Breton stripe stands out in particular.”.
“The appeal of clogs has always been the function over form. Just the extremely easy going slipping-on-slip-off, casual nature of the footwear, logistically speaking”.
“Though the opportunity for expensive, gently ironic fashion clogs has passed, you can still begin a lifetime friendship with a comfortable, sensible, workhorse of a shoe that will offer your feet a loving, ergonomic embrace whenever they need it. They are ‘mules’, after all”.
“Durable, comfortable casual footwear. Ideal for lock down relaxation and, once this is over, for the much-needed holiday.”
“Refined menswear perfect for working from home in comfort while still maintaining a professional, sartorial touch.”
Dependable downtime extravagance : MULO x Hamilton and Hare Suede Slippers
“Comfy slippers are without doubt one of your most crucial wardrobe essentials during a lockdown period. Combining Mulo’s expertise in innovative and stylish footwear for men, and Hamilton and Hare’s expertise in premium fabrics and comfort-focused clothing, the two British brands have come together to create a slipper that delivers on both comfort and class. The Hamilton and Hare x Mulo slipper is based on the Oxford dress shoe, carefully handmade with Italian suede and cushioned footbed, with Hamilton and Hare signature 100% cotton knitted jersey. Lined with sumptuous, highly-breathable natural shearling, and all-natural rubber grip soles, the slipper is a dependable downtime extravagance for home working – or lounging – in style.”
“The best of this winter’s slippers so you can put your feet up in style”.
MULO BACKLESS SLIPPERS
“Crafted from supple suede and furnished with toasty shearling insoles for added comfort, these backless slippers from Mulo are so spare in design detailing you’ll be tempted to wear them outdoors”.
MULO x Hamilton and Hare
“Our favourite slipper collaboration of the moment? Got to be Hamilton and Hare’s design with Mulo: a slimline silhouette crafted from only natural fabrics. Simple, ethical and easy to slip on – you can’t go wrong”.
MULO GREY SLIPPERS
“Stay home, stay safe, and do so in supreme style & comfort”.
“All that time in the house and our slippers are coming under serious scrutiny.”
MULO x Hamilton and Hare
“Easy-to-wear slip-ons that will pass inspection – and up your comfort levels.”
“We might be working from home but shoes maketh the man – and the outfit. Just because Zoom can’t see doesn’t mean we should shirk on our responsibility to our feet, but we can afford to relax the rules just a little.”
“The best shoes for loafing around in, stylishly”.
“Supremely comfortable and handcrafted on an Oxford last just like traditional leather. Even the linen braiding is from a sustainable source.”
“A cosy weekend-in need not mean dressing like a slob; you can embrace comfy style and keep it dapper”.
“Thankfully there are now slipper/ casual shoe hybrids. Check out the collaboration between slipper specialist Mulo and loungewear supremo Hamilton and Hare”.
“In the wake of COVID-19 fundamentally changing life as we know it, it’s clear that productivity has to flourish even when you have to work from home. The key to a covetable WFH wardrobe means picking a mix of cozy pieces from familiar labels and some brands that are slept on (but not slept in).”
“Elevated takes on track pants, soccer shorts, slides, and good socks are a great place to start, but you should also consider stepping up your house style game with a pair of luxe slippers and consider a pair of real pajamas, which when you think about it, is sort of the ultimate WFH power suit.”
“Wearing these Mulo slippers with your Martine Pose pants is the way you want to answer that conference call today.”
“The MULO espadrille slip-ons should be a staple in your wardrobe. These Spring/Summer shoes are ideal for kicking back and relaxing. You can wear these with shorts or chinos and in the vast majority of social settings. These are handmade in Portugal by expert craftsman, have a cushioned removable footbed that feels great on the foot, can be worn without socks, and they are built to mold to your foot after you wear them once or twice.”
“Having sailed across the Atlantic wearing humble jute and canvas espadrilles, Tobias Cox launched shoe brand Mulo with Ingrid de Vries in 2012, with the aim of creating smart/casual trans-seasonal footwear. The latest addition to the range is the Mulo loafer, a flexible travel-ready design made with soft Italian suede uppers and lining for maximum comfort. Handmade in Portugal, they are available in tan, natural and brown and could be your most versatile shoe yet.”
“Slippers that keep feet warm and feel cozy, but don’t look like the ubiquitous moccasin style you always see”.
“The backless slippers are partially lined with plush shearling and have a rubber sole for running downstairs to grab the newspaper and macadamia-nut latte. In these, you definitely won’t be embarrassed if you run into someone you know; in fact, you may even want to run into someone you know”.
Tobias Cox, MULO
“My career in the City spanned management consultancy at Accenture, private equity and marketing strategy. Focusing on FMCG and Retail sectors, I enjoyed the variety of roles and learning about consumer businesses across different disciplines. However, I always knew I wanted to set up a business creating beautiful products and footwear is a personal passion.
During summer holidays I had loved the simple charm of espadrilles but believed there was an opportunity to develop an elevated, more durable version of the summer staple. I took a few months out to explore the idea culminating in a sailing trip across the Atlantic during which a pair of traditional Espadrilles I had packed fell apart, confirming my conviction. On my return I attended a shoe design course at Central St Martins to create the initial prototype and the vision for MULO was born in 2012.
Using the DNA of a traditional Oxford ‘last’ (the slim silhouette of a classic Oxford dress shoe underpins all our designs) we’ve now reimagined three additional key styles – the Loafer (with or without a foldable back heel), the Sneaker and the Slipper (traditional or backless) – as hard-working, go-anywhere slip-ons with a streamlined core shape. The goal was to reimagine these essentials to fit the modern man’s wardrobe – shoes that understand smart no longer means buttoned-up and that in downtime it’s good to still feel dressed up.
Designed in London and expertly handmade in our Portuguese workshops with the very finest materials sourced from Italian tanners and Japanese mills, each pair is crafted in 100 individual stages including sports industry engineering that adds maximum comfort to the premium fit.
Today, seven years on, MULO shoes are available from our own website and 50 premium retailers worldwide and we launch two new collections each year, as well as joint collaborations and next year will be unveiling another new style.
“Step into the summeriest shoes out there.”
“Best espadrilles for getting over your flip-flop addiction.”
“Mulo’s take on the shoe uses a thicker rubber sole—all the better for comfort and durability. Plus, linen ensures your feet stay aired out.”
“Mulo’s excellent espadrilles and other shoes will ensure you don’t put a foot wrong on your next vacation.”
“Espadrilles have been having their moment in the sun for a few seasons, but as a summer essential they have one significant downside: They’re not that comfortable. And one more: they don’t last. Both these points were irking Londoner Toby Cox, who wore them regularly when sailing but ended up trashing them all too quickly. So he set out to create an upgrade: Enter MULO, the espadrille re(de)fined.”
“Grab these stylish beach shoes before your next vacation.”
“Made using traditional English shoemaking techniques, the Mulo design is based on an Oxford last, meaning its slim silhouette has been taken from a formal Oxford-style lace-up. There are more than 100 stages before the final shoe—hand-made in Portugal out of plush suede, Japanese linen and featuring a rubber sole—is complete. You notice the quality of construction long before you get them on your feet. Sturdy but not bulky, they have a minimal presence that will please those who liked the simplicity of espadrilles, but they are a significant improvement. I was particularly drawn to the neutral shades—versatile shades of taupe, brown and beige—but striped versions and those in indigo linen offer a more nautical or lightweight alternative.”
“Launched in 2012, Mulo now offers slippers, sneakers and loafers, all with a similar pared-back aesthetic. (Its new collaboration with British loungewear brand Hamilton and Hare, a pair of blue suede slippers with tartan lining, would make a smart Holiday gift.) But for those of you off for a little winter sun in the coming months—or indeed reading this from warmer climes—it is the espadrille that we most recommend to you. As a slip-on, go-anywhere summer shoe, as happy by the pool as in a beach bar, they’re hard to beat.”
“As the temperatures drop, stay snug with these stylish slippers”.
“As long as they’re comfortable, men’s slippers don’t need to look the part. But these suede loafers by Mulo don’t falter on style nor substance. The slick black, backless loafers, which took three days to craft by hand, aren’t cheap at £145. However, they do come with a super-soft shearling insole and sturdy gripped rubber soles ready-made for colder conditions”.
“Mulo’s suede loafers are designed to be a sturdier but lightweight alternative to the espadrille”.
“From a pair of natural suede, crepe-soled loafers to a sweeping custom-made sailing yacht, this is what we want this week…“.
Slip on: Mulo Natural Suede Loafers
“The loafer is the perfect all-year shoe. Slip them on with shorts in the summer, or more casual, thicker trousers during colder months and you’ll always end up with a versatile, effortlessly cool outfit. Mulo has taken this smart casual style to heart with its latest range of shoes – streamlined, minimalist loafers crafted with natural suede and textured rubber-crepe soleswith with the ultra-sumptuous, breathable natural shearling, these backless beauties come in navy, slate, brown and dark brown”.
“Newly released garments which we think, come mid-winter, you’ll see as old friends“.
“Lined with with the ultra-sumptuous, breathable natural shearling, these backless beauties come in navy, slate, brown and dark brown”.
“Upgrade your lounge-shoe game.”
“Slippers made on an Oxford last? Now you’re talking. Upgrade your lounge-shoe game with this dapper pair of slip-ons from Mulo. Handmade in Portugal from fine navy suede and lined with shearling, they’re good looking as well as warm, and thanks to a rubber-crepe sole, you won’t even need to take them off for a quick stroll to the shops”.
“Loafers that offer, not just style smarts, but also a way of life”.
“After seeing a number of shoes fall apart on him while sailing around the Atlantic, Mulo owner Tobias Cox decided to create the collapsible heel loafer. It’s a little bit loafer, a little bit espadrille (a loaferdrille?) but built on an Oxford it has that extra layer of durability. Which is good, as heading back to the hotel mid-day is a sign of weakness – these will see you from beach to bar in style”.
Pair with: mid-thigh swim shorts, a logo tee and a never-say-die attitude
“On the days when sandals won’t cut it and the thought of slipping on a loafer makes you sweat, these chic styles have you covered“.
“Mulo’s linen Breton Stripe Espadrille is a timeless summer staple. The London-based brand has forgone the traditional rope sole in favor of textured rubber crepe and leather, ensuring that the pair will hold up after repeated days out on the yacht, tromping through cobblestone-lined streets, and hitting up the season’s must-see exhibitions. Keep them feeling sharp by styling them with a tailored pair of shorts or cropped dark trousers”.
“One of the best.”
“Perfect for cocktail parties, beach weddings and more, a white suit simultaneously appears sophisticated and striking. To wear one, choose between either a bold, plain white design or a softer, striped style. Then, partner your white suit with a smart white shirt. When it comes to accessories, such as shoes, hats and pocket squares, you can opt for white for an entirely neutral look, brown or black for a smart contrast or a bright hue for an intense pop of colour.”
“Espadrilles are the easy, no-fail option. They’re lightweight enough to bust out even in the thickest heat, and the super casual silhouette looks right around the beach and, in a pinch, on the sidewalk. Bring them to the pool, to the tiki bar, and on every vacation”.
“Mulo’s take on the shoe uses a thicker rubber sole—all the better for comfort and durability”.
“Mulo’s suede loafers are designed to be a sturdier but lightweight alternative to the espadrille”.
“This reimagined, more refined take on this summer essential from British brand MULO adds some structure to the slip on and a more substantial sole for additional comfort. Constructed on the last of an Oxford shoe, they maintain the simple charm of the espadrille but ready it for the purposes of the modern man”.
“Warm weather shoes that look good in the sun, without baring all to the world”.
“Upgrade your espadrilles with this swish suede design from Mulo. Designed in London and made by hand in Portugal using traditional techniques, these espadrilles come in a sleek, streamlined silhouette with a timeless navy and cream palette. Even better, their proper rubber soles make these a whole lot more durable than other espadrille brands on the market – whether you’re pounding the city streets or soaking up the sun on a Mediterranean beach”.
“Stylish buys that free your feet without exposing them to the world.”
“It’s a good time to be a guy who flatly refuses to wear sandals in the summer; espadrilles, slippers, and loafers in luxurious and off-the-wall fabrications are lining shelves right now. No longer are toe-hiders limited to slip-on Vans and tearing their feet apart in dress shoes, the fashion gods have bestowed upon you plenty of alternative options, including this Foldable Heel Suede Loafer by MULO”.
“Shop these stylish and comfy seasonal picks before the heat waves kick in – your feet will thank you”.
“Loafers are the king of summer footwear for men. They can be dressed up for your business meetings and down for your everyday errands. You can pair them with a no-show sock for even more breathability. And a loafer’s fail-safe design means you can wear it year after year. So if there’s one pair you should have in your wardrobe this season, this is it”.
“Way more stylish than flip-flops.”
“When you’re at the beach, obviously you want footwear that’s easy to get in and of. And while flip-flops certainly get the job done, a pair of canvas espadrilles do it with considerably more style”.
“How to dress for summer in the office. There are minor adjustments a man can make to free up his formal attire and lend a more breezy approach”.
“Go for a less structured variety of shoe, such as loafers or, if it’s not too off duty, a smart pair of espadrilles with a proper sole. Cooling in even the most corporate of set-ups.”
“Getting dressed in the summer is less painful when you’re armed with the right clothes. A fabric like linen is one of the best options you can wear when it’s warm—the weave of the fabric allows for more airflow, which keeps you cool”.
‘Think beyond shirts and shorts for linen—a pair of linen shoes will keep your feet cool, too”.
“Espadrilles are your go-to laid back summer shoes.”
‘The non-sandal way to keep cool in the warmer months.”
“A style classic.”
“This season’s hit shoe.”
“This summer the humble rope-soled espadrille walks off the beach and into the city – adding a little Continental swagger to everyday casual wear”.
“Mulo launches its new loafer style – and very fine it is too.”
“A high quality take on the classic espadrille.”
“Will work as well on the beach as they will, if not the office, then at least in the pub.”
“‘Luxury’ has become a difficult term for business and consumers, partly through overuse and partly because it tends to mean ‘stuff you don’t really need’, which is a kind of unfashionable concept now. People who have grown up with digital technology in the post-Apple world have different expectations to their parents: they expect brands to be constantly innovating and rethinking their products from scratch, so ‘quality’ is associated more with innovation and interesting thinking, and less with surface flash or venerable histories.”
In the past few years, a new kind of entrepreneur has emerged to cater to – and encourage – this shift. Their concern with quality of service and raw materials puts them at the higher ends of their markets, but they’re often wary of the L-word and like to get their lowest price points solidly in the “accessible” territory. They make things for people who like well-designed, well-made products that are useful, as opposed to baroque, rose-gold plated versions of nonsense no one really needs”.
“MULO: Makers of the Modern Slip-On”
“Having conceived a smart-casual shoe that would essentially reinvent the slip-on, they were designed on Oxford lasts sourced in Northamptonshire, and then made by craftsmen in Portugal. Building the business on expertise and deep knowledge, the brand focuses on multiple variations on a single style”.
“As good for wearing indoors as they are for heading out.”
“Ones for shorts.”
“Think Albert Hammond Jr on holiday.”
“Why it’s time to dust off your espadrilles.”
“This humble, casual piece of footwear – which started life as a shoe for peasants in the Basque region of Spain centuries ago – has been ushered into the upper echelons of luxury these past few years, with fashion houses rendering them in sumptuous leather or supple suede”.
“There’s a louche, low-key, hazy days sense of glamour to these shoes that even the most well-meaning of summer trainer can’t quite capture”.
“Espadrilles that’ll boost your summer game.”
“Not only do they possess the easy-to-wear quality and breathability of flip-flops (without the need for a pedicure every time you want to wear them), but they’re still smart enough to wear with tailored trousers and a shirt in the blazing sun”.
“Need a style upgrade? We unpack the It crowd’s favorite labels for summer.”
“Best in jet-set style: personable, distinct, and just plain cool.”
“London-based Mulo makes a fantastic summer slip-on — part espadrille, part loafer. And this summer, they’ve included new options that feature Breton stripes.”
“Every week, we get to see the coolest products hitting the menswear market before anyone else – and of course, as committed clothes fans, we have our favourites. Here’s a selection of the very best items launching this week that we think you should add to your wardrobe ASAP.”
“Summer’s almost here – and there’s no shoe better suited to warm weather than the espadrille. For a more city-friendly version of the classic slip-on style, take a look at MULO which produces models with hardier rubber soles and premium uppers cut from suede”.
“Espadrilles keep you (looking) cool in the heat. Invest while the sun’s still out.”
“The classic espadrille is so hot right now. Consider it the sophisticate’s answer to the flip-flop.”
“The one certainty in men’s fashion this summer will be baring more ankle, even in the workplace. Socks will be coming off, but these will be going on”.
“Espadrilles always looked cool for about an hour before they came into any contact with sand/pebbles/grass or just a road, when they promptly fell apart and faded to the tone of an old dishcloth. The Mulo uses suede, durable cotton and a sturdy rubber sole rather than a bit of old rope.“
“Summer is no excuse to backslide on footwear. Sure, lazy summer days are all about putting your feet up. But designers have been busy updating summer shoes with lighter, more breathable materials, and with cabana-ready designs. It’s taking these familiar, mass commercial styles and upping the ante.”
“MULO Suede Espadrilles combines the ease of a slip-on with an Oxford’s craftsmanship. Available in blue, natural and taupe”.
“As relaxed as flip-flops but ten times more stylish.”
“Hunting for good menswear shoes in summer is like trying to find a quiet pub in Shoreditch. If you are sick of the sight of deck shoes, take a gander instead at MULO. The achingly cool Brit brand has created the perfect warm-weather slip-on”.
“From seafaring settings to city streets, the basic espadrille gets an Anglophile update”
“Espadrilles are having a big moment in the world of men’s fashion, but they are not an easy silhouette for everyone to pull off. MULO solves that problem by crossing them with a Vans-style slip-on”.
“Mens espadrilles for simple effortless and timeless style.”
It has been synonymous with high-style since the 1950s when Brigitte Bardot filmed “And God Created Women” on its beaches, and now Le Club 55 in St. Tropez, France, is partnering with British label Mulo to create its first signature shoe.
“We wanted to develop a custom shoe that captured the spirit of the beach club and [we] approached [Club 55’s] owner, Patrice de Colmont, with the idea last July,” explained Mulo founder Tobias Cox. “He loved the shoes and the idea.”
