MULO’s turning Japanese, just for the summer.
Japanese design has always been a huge inspiration to MULO; its elegant efficiency, meticulously-honed minimalism, love of natural materials, belief in balance and embrace of muted tones are principles after our own heart.
In homage to that synergy, for SS19 MULO is proud to announce a limited-edition capsule collection of our signature shoe – The Espadrille – featuring four classic Japanese prints.
Each print has been created using the traditional Japanese Kasuriprocess – a special textile technique (also known as ikat) based on the subtle art of yarn blurring: before dying, sections of yarn are wrapped tightly with threads or blocked to resist the indigo dye, forming patterns with gently blended, slightly misaligned edges when bound together in the final design. While it’s partly machine produced, to achieve the complex micro-dot graphic formations it still requires a hand-crafted, artisanal final touch.
Designed for summer (the 100% cotton fabric is lightweight and ultra-breathable) this collection is all about a less is more aesthetic where the beauty is in the natural ‘imperfections’.
How to wear? With a suitably relaxed vibe – chinos or navy denim; a white shirt or a Breton tee.
